Decent hamster cage and my hamster really likes it too.
Stephanie Baker 08/05/2025Brilliant cage for my russian dwarf hamster she loves it! Very well made sturdy wood, only niggle is when she at the bottom of the cage I have to take whole top off just to get her attention sometimes. Other than that it's a fab cage would definitely recommend! Also it looks nice.
Anon 08/05/2025Arrived well packaged and in perfect condition, all pieces went together easily. I added log bridges to edge of shelf and around opening to bottom level to stop substrate from falling off the edge (pet safe wood glue). Added window cling around bottom not just for decoration but to add privacy to build confidence although it wasn't needed as the mice move around freely and happily even when being closely watched by our cat Django. Can vouch that this cage is solid, secure and cat proof! I removed ramps as mice are agile and dexterous enough to use ropes and hanging toys to negotiate all levels of this cage, they have more usable space without them and I find it more pleasing to the eye. I put a large dig box in bottom for burrowing but may fill the whole bottom layer with substrate when the mice are more tame and easier to catch! I have seen reviews where people have purchased two of these and joined them together for more space which I may do when the mice get bigger although this cage is bigger than it looks in pictures and perfect for three tiny mice. Very pleased with purchase
Sylviafox 06/05/2025Lovely enclosure for a hamster that doesn’t chew. We bought this because it was advertised as for gerbils upon inspection it wasn’t backside they chew everything and the enclosure is wooden in inside. but we made the necessary adjustments to make it gerbil safe. Got some chew resist stuff, lined the bottom with a sheet of Perspex so their urine doesn’t rot the wooden bottom and replaced the front window with some metal mesh for better air circulation as the only air holes was four in the top. Fantastic size and depth no more sawdust everywhere
anonymous 08/02/2025We bought two of these and customised them to make one amazing home for our two gerbils. Constructing them takes some time but is worth it. The BIGGEST thing to flag is the problems with the protective film that is on every plastic window panel. Firstly - the wooden frames have been built over the edges of the films, so they are really hard to remove - it took 2 hours, tweezers and a lot of expletives to do this! Secondly, and most importantly, the adhesive used to attach this film absolutely stinks - I cannot emphasise this enough. When the delivery boxes arrived - it stunk out our hallway before we even opened the packaging. We had to unpack it in the garden as the smell was so strong. Once the films were eventually removed, we cleaned all the pieces (wooden and plastic - as the smell was on everything) and allowed them to air in the shed for 4 days (it needed this long) before we brought them inside the house for use. It was awful for humans, there is no way you'd want tiny animals breathing in those chemicals. As you can see in the photos, we bought two of these and joined them together. We took out the plastic panels where we joined them together so it became one longer home - much more suitable for the needs of gerbils. We used the clasps that were meant for vertical use on those sides, to fit horizontally to join the two sides together. The result is really safe and sturdy, but allows for easy dismantling when it comes to cleaning time. The whole bottom level is completely filled with bedding and borrowing materials, providing a brilliant and large space for them. On one side, we didn't fit the mezzanine level, and this means we have room for our big wheel and a parrot perch branch. On the other side - the mezzanine provides space for a drinks bottle, and a space that they have made their toilet area - which makes cleaning super easy. There isn't anywhere to attach a water bottle, so you will need a free standing one (we got a ceramic cactus one from Amazon that is perfect). Air holes are in the very top panel. We may take out the plastic panels from the sloped door panels, and replace this with a wire bar panel of some kind. But the gerbils are very active and happy, this isn't necessary but might be nice to make it feel a bit more airy. Overall, if you can overcome the work - and have time/space to safely clean and air the pieces out - the result can be brilliant. I'm so chuffed with what we've achieved. I have no idea why anyone would use adhesives that smell like that on anything for humans or animals!
anonymous 24/01/2025a bit tricky to get the hang of putting it together but once you figure it out it is pretty easy but it does take a while to do
