I took my time assembling the unit. The instructions went from page 3 to page 5, the crucial part was not there. There were a few small mistakes in the instructions and it would have been very useful to know how far the cam screws must protrude, for the cams to fit properly and not break. I had to do several mock assemblies of parts, then take apart and adjust the cam screws and it isn't at all obvious how far in they should be screwed to begin with. Beware of this if you buy one.Nevertheless once finished the unit feels solid and looks great. One of the felt feet on the bottom of one leg was missing so I had to improvise one out of a piece of leather that happened to be the correct thickness with very sticky double sided tape. Hopefully it will stay put.The dowels were very loose in their holes, so I used some PVA wood glue but only on the first pushing of the dowels.Another thing I did was, upon noticing that with the legs screw in they were not cut to fit the steel housings properly. There were gaps. Do I made some rubber washers out of an old tractor inner tube so I could screw them in tight and not see a gap on one side. Hopefully this will add to strengthening the leg fittings a little. The instructions has shown the automatic door opener fitted flush with the outside edge of the unit. This was incorrect. It needs to be in to the equivalent of the door thickness. Luckily, the pilot holes allowed for correct placement of this item, which I actually like, as a feature. It works very well. Just push on the door a little and the spring operated piston pushes the door open about two inches, thus negating the need for a handle.Once I had finished assembling, I put a coating of carnuba wax on it, to help protect the finish, and add some shine. I also cut some extra holes in the back plate forains cables because my CD players would be very difficult to plug in and switch on because the switches are on the back. All in all, I'm satisfied. I think the unit is nice looking and very good for the price.
