There was an issue with the first one that was sent, but the company where fantastic and rectified this straightaway...i would highly recommend the company and the item is great and just want i wanted for my outdoor kitchen area...
Mr P V McNeill 03/05/2025The cold frame is a very soft pine like wood. The instructions state not to use power drill when building. However the four sections come with corner pieces that are glued and pinned. On fitted the two side panels to the front panel with the supplied screws. I attempted picked pick the three pieces up to turn and fit the back panel. On lifting the glue and pins failed to take the weight and came apart. I then had to ignore the "No Drill" instruction and refit the Front panel to the pieces of wood and the side panels pre-drilling the panel. Preempting the same problem to the rear panel, pre-drilled and screwed again. The construction is much lighter that I would have expected of pine, I therefore feel that I needs some weight to prevent it being moved in gusts of wind. I will need to devise a means to do this. The top surface is plastic in a pine frame. These doors will need to be secured probably with cabin hooks again to prevent gusts blowing them open and damaging them. The four panels are constructed of several lengths of wood glued together as is the norm these days. Together with the corner pieces of wood mentioned earlier act as ribbing with two pieces of wood centrally glued and pined to the inside, These too, I considered needed screwing down for security. All in all, a reasonable size cold frame that will hold up to four seed trays amd paraffin heater, which is more than an adequate size for my needs. had it not been for the construction issues above, it would have been easy to build.
