Product Reviews
Mr. G. Finnigan 08/08/2025

I have used this non stop now for almost a week, and here's my thoughts. The trays should only go in one way, but it's possible to put them in the wrong way. It is very easy to put them all in the wrong way, until you try to put the lid on and realise they're all in the wrong way. So you have to take them all out and take off all the food you're dehydrating and put it back in the tray the right way, and the trays back in the correct way. Ask me how I know...The temperature range is limited to between 40 and 70C. It's perfect for what I want, but some dehydration needs 125C so make sure the temperature range suits you. It's difficult to get used to the controls even though there's only 2 buttons. If you set the temperature, you can't just go pressing the time button and have it set the time. You must use the time button to turn the machine completely off, holding the time button in for about 3 seconds, you'll see scrolling '8's in the display then wait for the display to go black, then press the time button again to set the temperature. An easier way it to set the time you want (1-48 hours) is when turning on for the first time. Simply press the time button and instantly set the time by pressing the time button once for each hour you want. When you stop the display will flash the amount of hours you chose for a couple of seconds, then it will remain on and the heater and fan will start. The temperature button is different: When you press it at any time it will display the current temperature, and you can set it to anywhere within it's range by pressing repeatedly. When you stop pressing the temperature button the display will flash for a few seconds before going static. The new temperature is now set. I don't know why you can do this with temperature, but not the timer.Once you get used to it it is simple though, it's just getting used to it for the first time. There are 4 trays so you can dry quite a lot of food but be very careful with the trays. They are flimsy and so far I have not found anywhere that replaces them. I would really have loved to have had 6 but c'est la vie. I very carefully sponge wash them but they really are not very strong. I have now started using baking paper to lay on the trays before putting food on, to save washing too much, and to limit microplastic contamination. It is very quiet in operation, quieter than a microwave and much quieter than an airfryer. There's no warning beep at the end of the drying cycle, but at this price point I guess that's not a major problem. It mentions stainless steel but there is no stainless steel anywhere on the machine; it's just Chinese marketing I guess. It's footprint is quite small, smaller than a lot of airfryers, almost as small as some 4 slice toasters, so it should easily fit on a worktop and in a cupboard when stored. You might want to find a box to store the trays in because as I said, they're very fragile. The entire build quality is 'enough' but it won't last you for years without a huge amount of care.At 245 watts max they use so little amount of energy. Even on the highest setting that's less than a Kilowatt per 4 hours, and currently a Kilowatt is about 29p? So even if your stuff needs 12 hours to properly dehydrate that's only going to cost you about 87p for the whole thing. That's great value for money I think. I rated it a 4 instead of a 5 because of the odd way the buttons work and the flimsiness of the trays, and the fact it is not possible to get replacement trays, but I am overall very happy with it and have dried loads of food already.

Good at what it sets out to do but the controls can be finicky. If I don't press the buttons in the correct order when it turns on I can't seem to make it actually start, and have to unplug it to try again. It feels a bit cheap in places, but it's a low cost alternative to any branded equivelant. The materials seem perfectly fine for what it needs though, it hasn't gotten hot enough that any trays have melted and we've had it on for long periods of time (without having a major impact on the energy bill either). Some things only take ~8 hours to dry, other recipes can take ~24 as it only has a few temperature options, buit at least this prevents it getting too hot and overdrying.
